{On losing oneself, or the breaking and healing of the soul}

On losing oneself is a diaristic archive, an accumulation of emotional and visual memory; the incarnation of my scattered mind and fragmented heart, left in pieces around the world with the people, places, architecture, nature, history, and art that I came to love, but had to leave. My art is a record and an act of praise. It reminds me that the reason I create is because I was created, and I shout for joy at the panoply of wonders that shout alongside me of the holiness of God. I am not a writer, so this project is my psalm. It is a cry to a God who hears my sorrows and my exultations in the life he has granted me. It is my broken heart laid out before him who heals me. 
  
Come and hear, all you who fear God, 
            and I will tell you what he has done for my soul.
